PeopleSoft release PUM 35 today. Reviewing the manifest, I see that he PeopleTools version included in this PUM is 8.58.04 (Previous typo had 8.57.04)
Bottom line upfront: I think I’m going to stay with my current PUM 34 instance with PeopleTools 8.58.03.
I see that 8.58.07 was released earlier this week as a stand-alone patch on AIX at least – PeopleSoft PeopleTools Patches Home Page (Doc ID 2062712.2)
I have been waiting for the 8.58.07 version since there should be several updates and fixes to the App Designer. Common sense says that since Oracle released the 8.58.07 patch on Monday, there was clearly not enough time to put that into Friday’s HCM PUM 35. Though we could hope the way we still buy lottery tickets.
Someone could argue that I should take one of two paths:
- Create my own Oracle Cloud instance, load the latest PUM and upgrade that PUM to the latest tools through the PeopleSoft Cloud Management tools (Thanks Graham!)
- Create my new PUM environment, import the 8.58.07 patch and upgrade the environment to the new tools level
In the end, I’m not a PeopleSoft Admin and that’s not the audience I trying to serve. Those skills are currently beyond my current bag of tricks and frankly, I don’t have the spare bandwidth between working full time as a PeopleSoft developer, creating new training content for this site and the regular commitments we all have to our families and community outside the PeopleSoft world.
And I don’t think it would add anything constructive to the conversation that trained, experienced and knowledgeable PS Admins are already having (PSAdmin.IO, Graham).
So, I’m staying with PUM 34 for now.
But good news! HCM PUM 36 release is scheduled for November 6, 2020. I can check back in just a few short weeks and see if PeopleTools 8.58.07 is included in that release.
Now I’m off to buy a lottery ticket!
