Oracle has asked the Aces to help spread the word: AI has changed the security landscape. Threats are moving faster and growing more capable. Oracle is doing what it can to help you defend your systems, but it can’t do it without you.
The key takeaway is simple: your organization needs a plan to apply the latest Release Updates (RUs) quickly. The old routine—download it next week, test it when there’s time, and patch production a few times a year—is over.
Attackers are already using AI to find doors you may not even know exist. Worse, they can analyze RUs and reverse-engineer new exploits. Waiting for a convenient downtime window is no longer a safe strategy.
And for my PeopleSoft friends… This applies to us too. Vipin could have been writing about PeopleSoft security patches. Oracle is working to make finding and applying PeopleSoft security patches faster and easier with PeopleTools 8.63 – we need to understand this.
I’m the king of too many analogies, so here’s one more: During the 19th-century cholera epidemics, imagine a doctor standing by the community well, warning everyone to boil their water—and handing out pots and stoves to make it possible.
Oracle is that doctor. The RUs are the pots and stoves. Don’t wait too long to boil the water for your family; by then, it may be too late.
