After creating, importing, securing and configuring an Insights dashboard, we have two steps left before we are done: Deploy and Deliver.
Deploy
Deploying an Insights Dashboard closes the loop between PeopleSoft and the Insights servers. This brings both systems to a common understanding of the dashboards.
If you migrated your dashboards to a new environment using the Data Migration Workbench, this step copies the Dashboard JSON objects to that environment’s Insights servers.
All dashboards, including the smaller Tile dashboards, must be Deployed in PeopleSoft before they can be accessed by your users.
Navigation: Home > PeopleTools > Search Framework > Administration > Deploy Insights Dashboards
Find and select your dashboards in the table
At the bottom of the page, click the “Deploy” button

After a quick moment, your dashboards will show as “Deployed”

Add your Dashboard Tile to a Fluid Homepage
The dashboards are now available to anyone with security access to that dashboard.
Personalize your selected homepage

Add a tile and search for our Training Insights Tile

Save the home page and we see our Tile with the smaller dashboard presenting on the Tile

Click the Tile and PeopleSoft displays the larger Insights Dashboard with multiple Visualizations

Done!
This all started with a Query, and now users see an Insights Dashboard in PeopleSoft.
That is the core process of creating and delivering PeopleSoft Insights Dashboards:
- Create the Query
- Create Search Objects
- Extract the data
- Create an Index Pattern
- Create a Visualization
- Create a Dashboard
- Import Dashboards into PeopleSoft
- Secure and Configure
- Deploy
Everything after this is just an enhanced version of one of those parts:
- Different visualizations such as Pie and Bar Charts
- Calling custom App Engine programs during the extraction process to better form your data
- Incremental Updates
- Real Time Indexing
- Row level security
- Using dashboards in Navigation Collections
- Embedding dashboards in Fluid Pages
We will be exploring many of these items in future blogs.
